Chapter Six

I cleaned Rebel as gently as I could, trying my best not to wake her. She’d been through a lot over the course of the evening. Emotionally and physically. She hadn’t challenged my mate claim, but she hadn’t returned it either. Not that it mattered to me. I was keeping her. If she tried to leave, I’d chase her down and bring her back then make love to her until she passed out, until she realized that we belonged together. No man would ever love her as fiercely or thoroughly as I planned to. And if another man tried…I’d kill him.

I eased her under the covers then headed back to the bathroom to discard the towels and get the light. I picked up our clothes and placed them in the hamper. In the morning, she could wear something of mine until we put away her things. Hell, I’d have her moved in before she realized what was happening.

I got into the bed beside her and pulled her against my body. The feel of her in my arms had my cock stretching to say hello, but I ignored it. I might have gone a little overboard showing her how good we’d be together, but after what we’d shared, there’d be no way she’d doubt it. She owned me. Every inch of me. Inside and out.

I cupped her breast in my palm, holding the fullness in my hand, and imagined our child nursing there while I watched. I pressed my other hand against her flat belly and visualized it swollen with our child. If the fates were kind, she’d already be pregnant with our firstborn. I wondered how many children she’d agree to give me. I’d always wanted a big family. No guessing on that one. I’d been an outcast until I’d met the James Pack, a lone wolf searching for the one thing he’d always been denied. A family. My pack was my family now, but a man wanted to create his own immortality through sons and daughters when he finally found his mate.

I’d have to take care of the Benji Makers problem first. She hadn’t said anything on the subject, but I knew she worried about him coming after her. And about me getting hurt protecting her. I’d be flattered that she cared if I weren’t so irritated at her lack of faith in me. I would protect her. No matter what came at us. If Makers was lucky, his father had gotten to him and persuaded him to leave. I hoped not, though. I wanted to get my hands on him. Rebel deserved nothing less from her mate.

I snuggled in, wrapping around her so that she wouldn’t be able to move without me knowing it. I buried my nose in her hair and breathed deeply of her scent mixed with the musk of the sex we’d shared. I drifted off to sleep and woke to velvet heat stroking along my shaft. I knew what it was before I even opened my eyes.
